By Chandan Sharma New Delhi: At the 11th Rahbar-e-Azam Sir Chhotu Ram Memorial “Bharat Gaurav Award-2025” ceremony, organised by the prestigious Kalli Raman Foundation at the Indian Islamic Cultural Centre, distinguished personalities from diverse fields were honoured for their outstanding contributions. Individuals from education, politics, health, sports, social service and journalism were recognised for their remarkable work. Among them was senior journalist and Political Editor of *Dainik Bhaskar*, K.P. Malik, who was awarded the “Bharat Gaurav Samman-25” for his fearless and impactful journalism.
While addressing the audience at the ceremony, K.P. Malik said that this honour was not just an achievement but a new source of inspiration to continue fulfilling his duty towards society and the nation. Expressing gratitude to the organisers, he said that the core purpose of journalism is to represent the voice of the people and bring the concerns of the oppressed to those in power—an objective he has always pursued with conviction.
Kunwar Pal Malik, popularly known in the media world as K.P. Malik, was born in Adampur village of Shamli district in western Uttar Pradesh. After completing his education, he chose Delhi as his workplace. Emerging from a humble and value-driven farming family, Malik gradually became a familiar and respected name in some of the country’s leading media organisations. His articles and ground reports consistently highlight the issues of farmers, the poor, labourers and the marginalised, earning him recognition as a journalist with a strong public-interest orientation.
Because of his bold writing and fearless reporting, K.P. Malik has become a powerful and respected voice not only in Delhi’s media circles but across the nation. He has extensive experience in parliamentary reporting and was an eyewitness to the 2001 Parliament attack, which he covered despite the immense risk. He has also been vocal about journalists’ rights and the safety of media professionals.
In the early years of his career, he worked with prominent media organisations including Doordarshan, BBC TV, Zee News, Sahara Samay and *Hindustan Times*. Later, after joining *Dainik Bhaskar*, he strengthened his role as Political Editor. Last year, he was also honoured with the “Atal Ratna Lifetime Achievement Award” and the “Munshi Premchand Samman” for excellence in journalism and social service.
Alongside journalism, Malik remains actively involved in social work. Despite his busy schedule, he stays connected with his roots and often visits his village to understand local agricultural issues and rural challenges, a connection that is clearly reflected in his writings. Even while living in Delhi, he is known as a grounded, sincere and straightforward journalist whose commitment inspires many young reporters.
Receiving the “Bharat Gaurav Award-2025” is being seen as a significant milestone in K.P. Malik’s long and dedicated career, further elevating his stature and respect across the country.
