By Vinay Mishra Delhi: World Hospice & Palliative Care Day 2025 observed at Safdarjung Hospital The Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Safdarjung Hospital, celebrated World Hospice & Palliative Care Day 2025 on Saturday, 11th October 2025, in alignment with the global theme “Achieving the Promise: Universal Access to Palliative Care.”The event was organized by the Pain & Palliative Care team, highlighting the vital role of compassionate care for patients with life-limiting illnesses.
The programme featured a public lecture on “Living Will” delivered by a renowned legal expert, followed by a skit and cultural performance spreading awareness about the importance of palliative care in improving quality of life and preserving dignity till the end.The occasion was graced by Dr. Charu Bamba Medical Superintendent, Dr. Vandana Talwar (Dean, GGSIP University), Dr. Amita Gupta, Dr. Amita Sahni, Dr. Madhu Dayal, Dr. Tilak Raj AMS, & Dr Saveena Raheja along with faculty members, students, nursing staff, and patients.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Talwar lauded the team’s efforts in promoting the message of empathy and holistic care, emphasizing that every patient deserves comfort and dignity. Dr. Charu M.S. expressed her appreciation for the dedicated palliative care team and reiterated the department’s commitment to making palliative care accessible to all who need it. Dr. Amita Sahni, Dr. Amita Gupta, and Dr. Madhu Dayal also shared their perspectives on integrating palliative care into comprehensive patient management across medical specialties. The patients were also given utility gifts to boost their morale . The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the collective pledge to strengthen awareness, accessibility, and quality of palliative care services, ensuring dignified and compassionate end-of-life care for every individual.
