The Sports Injury Centre, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, today marked a significant milestone in its commitment to advanced rehabilitation services with the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Anti-Gravity Treadmill. The facility was formally inaugurated by Roli Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Director, Safdarjung Hospital and Dr. Charu Bhamba, Medical Superintendent, Safdarjung Hospital, along with faculty, staff, and dignitaries from the medical and administrative fraternity.
In his welcome address, Dr. Deepak Joshi, Director, Sports Injury Centre, highlighted the Centre's continued emphasis on incorporating cutting-edge technology to enhance patient care, especially in the fields of orthopaedics, rehabilitation, and sports medicine.
The Anti-Gravity Treadmill is a revolutionary rehabilitation tool that uses differential air pressure technology to reduce a patient’s effective body weight up to 80% during walking or running. This allows for:
Early mobilization of post-operative patients with reduced stress on joints,
Pain-free recovery for individuals with lower limb injuries,
Enhanced rehabilitation for neurological conditions, and
Improved athletic performance with precise gait training and muscle conditioning.
The installation of this advanced equipment will benefit a wide range of patients, including post-operative orthopaedic cases, sports injuries, and those undergoing neurorehabilitation, enabling a faster and safer return to mobility.
The inauguration marks another step towards the Sports Injury Centre’s vision to remain at the forefront of patient-centric, technology-driven healthcare delivery in India.
