By Vinay Mishra Delhi: Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) & Safdarjung Hospital has received three essential medical equipments under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Rotary Club Delhi South East, in collaboration with Macawber Beekay Pvt. Ltd. The initiative aims to strengthen diagnostic, emergency, and rehabilitative healthcare services for patients, particularly those from economically weaker sections.
The equipment includes a Silverline Biphasic Defibrillator with ECG and printer, provided to the Department of Medical Oncology. This advanced life-saving device will significantly enhance the hospital’s emergency cardiac response capabilities and aid in the effective management of sudden cardiac arrest cases.
A Thyroid Uptake System with Well Counter has also been installed in the Department of Nuclear Medicine. V.M.M.C. & Safdarjung Hospital is the only Hospital in the Delhi NCR region under Central Health Services having the Department of Nuclear Medicine. This equipment Thyroid Uptake System with a well counter is used in following cases
In patients suffering from thyroid disorders- helping in differentiating Grave’s disease from various Thyroiditis.
In planning 131-Iodine therapy for Grave’s disease patients.
In planning high-dose 131-iodine therapy for Thyroid Cancer patients.
Performing wipe tests to diagnose radioactive spill/contamination.
It is also used to perform GFR in patients suffering from Kidney failure and post Chemotherpy nephrotoxicity.
In addition, a Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) unit has been provided to the Department of Anaesthesia (ICU) to strengthen rehabilitative care. The unit will be utilized in the management of pressure sores and chronic wounds, helping to reduce pain and inflammation and promote faster healing through non-invasive therapy.
Safdarjung Hospital primarily serves patients from low-income backgrounds who often face challenges in accessing costly medical treatments. The addition of these advanced medical equipments will enable the hospital to provide high-quality care at no cost, further reinforcing its commitment to equitable and accessible public healthcare.

The hospital administration acknowledged and appreciated the continued CSR support of Macawber Beekay Pvt. Ltd. and the Rotary Club Delhi South East, which has contributed meaningfully to improving patient care services at VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital.
The programme was graced by the presence of Medical Superintendent Dr. Charu Bamba, HOD Anaesthesia Dr. Kavita Sharma, HOD Nuclear Medicine Dr. Padma, along with members of the CSR team, Alok Jain President Rotary Club, and Neera Gupta from Macawber Beekay Pvt. Ltd.
The formal handover and inauguration of the equipments were carried out by Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Director, Safdarjung Hospital, along with the President of the Rotary Club Delhi South East and the Senior officials of Macawber Beekay Pvt. Ltd.
