"FAKE CBI GANG BUSTED: VIVEK VIHAR POLICE CRACK BLIND ROBBERY CASE, ₹1.25 CRORE CASH RECOVERED FROM NGO ‘CRIME BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION’ OPERATIVES"

By Vinay Mishra Delhi: On 20.08.2025, a complaint regarding robbery by unknown persons, who represented themselves as CBI officers, was received at PS Vivek Vihar, lodged by Manpreet Singh R/o Orange County, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, UP. The complainant stated that he is in the business of finance, property dealing, commission, and construction, and has hired a property at B-253, 1st floor, Vivek Vihar, for his business. Over the last 6-7 months, approximately Rs. 2.5 crores had been generated from his business and was kept in the said house.

On 19.08.2025, due to an urgent requirement, he instructed his friend Ravi Shankar to collect Rs. 1.10 crores in cash from the house and bring it to his residence in Indirapuram. Ravi Shankar collected the amount and when he came out of the house and sat on his bike, 04 persons, including female, blocked. They claimed to be CBI officers, showed walkie-talkies, and wore identification cards with the government logo and the word "Bureau."

They threatened Ravi Shankar and forcibly snatched the bag containing Rs. 1.10 crores. Subsequently, they entered the house, threatened and hit his employee, Deepak Maheshwari, and took the remaining amount, claiming to be CBI officers. They left the house with approximately Rs. 2.5 crores. The perpetrators then forced Ravi Shankar and Deepak Maheshwari to sit in their car and later dropped them off near Chintamani Underpass and Nigambodh Ghat, Jamnagar Bazar, Delhi, respectively, threatening them not to disclose the incident to anyone.

On receipting of the complaint, enquiry was initiated to verify the matter and trace the culprits. 

Keeping in view of the gravity, a team of PS VivekVihar consisting SI Manvendra Chaudhary, HC VedPriya, Ct Subhash, Ct Sachin Kumar and Ct Sarthak was formed under the leadership of Insp. Afaque Ahmad, SHO/VivekVihar and close supervision of ACP/VivekVihar to nab the culprits.

The team checked and analyzed more than 100 CCTVS footages and technical surveillance was mounted with deployment of secret informers. On the basis of CCTV footages, registration numbers of both the Ertiga cars were obtained. Further on the basis of technical surveillance vehicle numbers of both the cars, its owner and two drivers were traced from Faridabad. They informed that the cars were hired by one NGO situated at Saidulajab, near Saket Metro Station. Thereafter, the police team reached the office of NGO namely CRIME BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION at Saidulajab, near Saket Metro Station. Further, two persons namely Ms.Papori Barua and Deepak have been apprehended and cash of Rs 1.08 crores&Rs. 17,50,000/- respectively has also been recovered from them. On enquiry, it has been found that the said NGO is working from the abovementioned address   and works to pursue the complainants of a victim with police and court etc. Further, during investigation of the case one more person who is Director of the said NGO namely Ram Singh Meena Age- 62 yrs has been arrested. 

Accused Ms.Papori Baruah, Age-30 yrs. is the secretary of the NGO and originally a resident of Asam and accused Deepak, Age- 32 yrs. is a resident of Tuglaqabad, Delhi and Ram Singh Meena is Director of the said NGO. On enquiry, it has been learnt that total four ladies and 4-5 persons committed the offence.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 483/25 dt. 20.08.25 u/s 309(4)/ 309(6)/332(c)/140(3)/127(2)/351(2)/3(5) BNS PS Vivek Vihar has been registered and investigation is taken up. Further, search of remaining money and co- accused persons is in progress.

RECOVERY:

1. Cash of Rs. 1.255 crores (one crore twenty five lakh fifty thousand).
