Safdarjung Hospital's Pediatric Nephrology Division Inaugurated New Hemodialysis Machines Through CSR Initiative

NEW DELHI, May 16, 2025: The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital successfully inaugurated two new hemodialysis machines on May 16, 2025. This critical medical equipment was acquired through the Adharshila Renal Care Project, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by JK Cement.

Dr. (Prof.) Sandeep Bansal, Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital, attended as the Chief Guest, with Dr. (Prof.) Geetika Khanna, Principal of Safdarjung Hospital, serving as the Guest of Honour. The event was held under the patronage of Dr. (Prof.) Pradeep Debata, Head of the Department of Pediatrics. Ms. Neena Jolly, Trustee of Adharshila, along with Ms. Shilpa, Head of CSR at JK Cement, were also present for this significant occasion.

This new equipment represents a significant enhancement to pediatric renal care services at Safdarjung Hospital, one of New Delhi's premier public healthcare institutions. The hemodialysis machines will strengthen the hospital's capacity to provide vital treatment to children suffering from kidney disorders and renal failure.

"These machines will not only help with hemodialysis for acute kidney failure but also support children with chronic kidney disease, preserving them in optimal conditions until they can undergo transplant," stated Dr. Pradeep Debata, Head of the Pediatrics Department. "Additionally, the hemodialysis machines can be used for plasmapheresis, which is helpful in conditions like Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, Acute Liver Failure, Wilson disease, autoimmune Encephalitis, and in some acute poisoning cases."

Dr. Debata further emphasized that this equipment would help prevent deaths in children with acute renal failure as well as many acute conditions where plasmapheresis is lifesaving.

"This addition to our Pediatric Nephrology Division will help us serve more children in need of dialysis treatment," said Dr. (Prof.) Shobha Sharma during the event. "We are grateful for the support from Adharshila in collaboration with JK Cement which has made this acquisition possible."
